Quarter 4, 2011: Net Worth Analysis

Despite taking a very passive approach to investing for the past month my portfolio has done well thanks to the market upturn and dividend payments. I easily beat my goal of earning $200 in dividend payments for the year and am now well positioned to earn in excess of $1,000 from dividends next year. The only purchase this month was for a 1/3 position in Illinois Tool Works (ITW). With four months left in the deployment I expect to increase the dollar amount of my investments and net worth by about the same amount as this quarter. Without knowing the direction of the market three months from now I am setting my target net worth increase at 20% for the first quarter of 2012.

  1. That is so true. As an author and business man, I can relate to how you said "With four months left in the deployment I expect to increase the dollar amount of my investments and net worth by about the same amount as this quarter". I hope more people discover your blog because you really know what you're talking about. Can't wait to read more from you!

  2. Very good results, if you will manage to keep it going by the time you are forty you will be financial independent.

Do you find time to search market and screen new stocks at all?

  3. At the moment I only have time to refresh the data in my Excel worksheet a couple of times a week. I take a look for any deep discounts because I don't have time for further research at this time. Right now the uptrend in the market has kept me mostly on the sidelines anyways. When I redeploy in a few months I will be able to do a full review of my portfolio, stock tracker, and additional purchase opportunities.
